The North Delta Basketball Association (NDBA) is a registered not for profit British Columbia society created in the Spring of 2024. Its roots go back to free basketball camps put on by North Delta residents starting in 2022. Those opportunities were created for local youth with the goals of growing athleticism, teamwork, resilience and confidence for North Delta youth through basketball in an equitable way for all families that wanted to participate.
Our organization now offers different community building events put on throughout the year. These basketball events give all North Delta youth, and their families, an opportunity for enrichment through participation. Our events focus on physical literacy, basketball fundamentals, positive communication and conditioning. These events all include youth mentors and volunteers of all ages giving their time as role model coaches and referees with the goal of creating high-quality, active and engaging programming for North Delta youth close to home. The NDBA had approximately 160 members in its first official school year (2024-2025).
We are currently partnered with Kidsport Delta and Basketball BC while renting gym time for our youth from both the School District of Delta and the City of Delta. The North Delta Basketball Association has adopted Basketball BC's Safe Sport policies.
Our ultimate goals are to continue to provide year-round basketball events to build foundational skills on a pathway to more competitive basketball for local youth while at the same time providing community building for our North Delta community.
As part of our community building efforts, in our first year of existence, we are proud to announce that we have established the NDBA Annual North Delta Scholarships in partnership with all five secondary schools (Burnsview, Delview, North Delta, Sands & Seaquam).
In June 2025 two graduating students from each North Delta secondary school earned $100 each from our organization to help as they move to the next stages of their lives.
School staff, at each school, helped select students that have post-secondary aspirations, community involvement that contributed positively to their schools' culture and leadership while participating in their school's basketball and/or Athletic programs.
